What is an Ironman?
One of the most well-known and prestigious series of long-distance triathlon races is the Ironman. Ironman meets are organized and managed by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC).

Originally, the Ironman race was conceived as a competition between a Navy SEALs team who debated if swimming or running was the most mentally rigorous and demanding exercise.
An Ironman is made up of three events: a 3.86-kilometer (2.4-mile) swim, a 180.25-kilometer (112-mile) cycle ride, and a 42.2-kilometer (26.22-mile) marathon race. This is the same order in which each section of an Ironman race takes place. There isn’t a space between them.
Ironman is widely regarded as the most difficult triathlon sporting event due to the length and consistency of the races. Not only are the physical demands quite demanding, but most Ironman races are also timed. They usually have to end in less than 17 hours. Every Ironman race typically stars early in the morning (around 7am) (around 7am).
An Ironman Triathlon
An Ironman is anyone who completes the entire distance in less than the allotted time. You are at a higher level than a regular triathlete with this grade.
Other events intended to have the same lengths and segments of an Ironman race exist. These competitions, however, are not owned, produced, or licensed by the World Triathlon Corporation.
Any time you hear the word “Ironman Triathlon,” you should be certain that it refers to the original Ironman Triathlon event. This Ironman triathlon is also known as the Ironman World Championship, and it has been held annually since 1978 in various locations around the world. Judy and John Collins, experienced triathletes from California, agreed to host the first distance triathlon competition in Hawaii in this year.
Triathletes are granted the opportunity to compete in the competition as the final stage of the Ironman series of qualifying events.
Ironman 70.3
The World Triathlon Corporation decided to launch the popular Ironman 70.3 race in 2005. This race is also known as a Half Ironman because it has shorter courses. It consists of a 1.9-kilometer (1.2-mile) swim, a 90-kilometer (56-mile) bike ride, and a 21.1-kilometer sprint (13.1 miles).

Ironman 70.3 is a shortened edition of the main Ironman competition and has a variety of qualifying races, much as the main race. Along with the Ironman qualification series, they both take place in various locations around the world.
Professional triathletes have the opportunity to compete in up to three 70.3 events. They will then use them to collect the requisite aggregate points to qualify for the championship.
Although the Hawaii Ironman is the granddaddy of them all, the fact is that every Ironman qualification series (which consists of 28 events) contributes equally to the final target, which is the Ford Ironman World Championship, which takes place in Kona, Hawaii, every October. Ironman 70.3 races make up five of the series’ 28 events.
Many amateur competitors have used these Ironman 70.3 trials to qualify for the entire Ironman World Championships in the past. However, as of 2015, this is no longer possible. These events will no longer be used by amateur competitors to compete for the major Ironman Championships.
70.3 events are suitable for triathletes who wish to test themselves by completing an Ironman. If they are unsure whether their physical condition would enable them to complete the Ironman 70.3 series, they should see it as a great, less stressful and demanding Ironman experience that will help them train for the main event. Did you know that the Ironman 70.3 series is the world’s fastest rising triathlon series?
